How does diffusion and osmosis help plant leaves to remain firm?

The dissolved substances in the cytosol of the cell is greater than the water being transported through the plant. So water diffuse into the cell, causing the cell to swell until the cell wall is stretched to the maxium. The cell will be rigid and firm.
