My hair is light golden blonde how do i get it to burgundy? doing it by myself.?

dude im not going to go to a professional bc they always mess up my hair so just dont bother nagging me about it. i want to go from golden blonde to burgundy but i need help on how to do it bc i know that it can turn out liek pink or something so someone please help me out!? should i bleach it? should i dye it brown then burgundy? help!!!
