Respect mother and father?

My father abandoned me when I was little. He never helped my mother in order to raise me. My mother raised me severly, she doesn`t understand me, she always insults and under-estimate me because deep inside her she hates my father and she blames me for this,,,I recently asked her help as I am facing a very difficult situation and she refused to ist me saying that it is none of her business. As a Christian how could I possible respect my parents??
