What to do when you have an indecisive crush?

alright, so this guy that i like a lot, and have for a really long time, likes me. All is well, and he just became single, he asked me out. I said yes of course...he says that he needs to ask his mom about it before we do anything, so i say alright. About an hour later he says that he sent that to the wrong girl...and that he prob. wouldn't date me until he got his permit...I don't understand this because he told my brother to tell me to check my messages, which is how i discovered his question and so on....What should i do?
